CIED Inauguration Report
The College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) has launched a new initiative, the Centre for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development (CIED). This is as part of our strong commitment to promoting innovation and developing entrepreneurship skills among our students. An army of entrepreneurs is what India needs, if it is to sustain its rapid economic growth in the decades to come. The CIED is a student initiative by the Student Alumni Coordination Cell (SACC) and has the backing of the Director, Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhhe, the Alumni Association of COEP and the COEP Charitable Foundation in the USA.

COEP Ties up with IIT Mumbai for Online Lectures

Pune, February 4: IN order to enhance students' skills and competency, Government College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) on Saturday launched online lectures in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Powai.
COEP director Anil Sahasrabudhe said, "I wanted my students to experience first-hand IIT quality education". Envisaged by F C Kohil, chairman of board of governance, COEP, the online lectures not only help the students to acquire knowledge but also address their queries.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between COEP and IIT and every week there will be seven online lectures on various subjects.

Prof Tom Kailath, a COEPian, awarded the Highest IEEE Honor

Thomas Kailath, emeritus professor of engineering at Stanford University and a pioneer of IC lithography techniques, has been recognized as the 2007 recipient of the IEEE's annual Medal of Honor. He is only the second Indian American to receive this award- the first scientist of Indian origin to received this award was Prof Kumar Patel who also happens to a be a graduate of COEP(1958 Electronics and Telecom).

I am sending this email to inform you about the changes to the COEP Foundation Board of Directors.
Prof Haresh Shah (1959 Civil) who has played a key role in the formation of the organization has decided to resign from the Board after 3 years of service. Prof Shah who is the founding Chairman, devoted his time/energy as well provided financial resources to help this organization emerge and grow in the past 3 years.
