Dr. Narendra Dahotre receives NSF grant: will sponsor two Ph.D. students

Hello,
I received following note from Dr. Narendra Dahotre (1980 Metallurgy):
Just recently my proposal on laser machining of ceramics has been awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) the funding for the period August 15, 2008-July 31, 2011.
The funding also included GRA support for 2 Ph.D. students. Currently, I do not have anybody in my mind for these slots. I am wondering if you will help me put this notice on websites that are widely browsed by COEP students.
The students who have completed M.E./M.Tech will be suitable for these slots. However, I will also be interested in recruiting bright students directly into Ph.D. after their B.E/B.Tech. This is a very prestigious NSF funding. The project will provide GRA support in the range of $16-18K for 12 months with complete tuition waiver throughout the duration of project. The project included both emphasis on experimental and computational modeling aspects of machining and phase transformation in materials hence students with background and interests in these will be appropriate. Students with B.Tech/M.Tech/M.E. in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering will be considered for this project.
The students can join on this project in Spring 2009 semester (starting in January 2009).
Mechanical and Metallurgy students interested in doing Ph.D. please reply to:
