Prof Thomas Kailath has been honored with the Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum for his valuable contribution towards the technological development of the country. The degree will be awarded at the 8th Convocation to be held on the 10th of February 2009

He shares the honor this year with Dr. Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Sons and Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Govt. Of India.

Previous luminaries conferred with the doctorate include Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. N. R. Narayan Murty, Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Shri Azim Premji, Prof. C. N. R. Rao, Dr. Sam Pitroda and Dr. V. S. Arunachalam.
